For small product brands, not enterprise CPG
Print once. Change where it points, anytime.
GS1-conformant QR codes on your own domain — ready for 2027-era checkouts, useful to your customers today. Your GTIN, your domain, your call if you ever leave.
Free plan: 3 products on our shared domain, forever. No credit card to try it.
We count scans. We never track scanners — no cookies, no IP addresses, ever.
Built for a 3–50 SKU food, beverage, or cosmetics brand printing labels through a local print shop or Avery sheets — not a compliance department. If you need audit trails, SSO, or per-unit pharma serialization, Codestamp isn't the right tool; an enterprise GS1 partner is.
How it works
- 1
Tell us your GTIN
Paste the GTIN (your product's barcode number) you already have, or use a free demo code to try Codestamp before you buy one.
- 2
We build the code
Codestamp generates a GS1-conformant QR code (and GS1 DataMatrix) that encodes your product correctly — check digits, symbol size, quiet zone, all handled.
- 3
Point it, print it, change it later
Send the code to a page you already have, or let us host one. Put it on your own domain. Change the destination anytime — the printed code never has to change.
What Sunrise 2027 actually is
You've probably heard 2027 is a barcode deadline. It isn't, not for most brands. Sunrise 2027 is GS1's target for retail checkouts to be able to read 2D barcodes by the end of 2027 — it's voluntary and industry-led, and your existing UPC keeps working after that date. No major retailer has announced a supplier requirement for 2D codes on general merchandise as of this writing.
Real legal deadlines do exist, just in narrower categories: pharma serialization under the FDA's DSCSA, and the EU's Digital Product Passport for batteries (Feb 18, 2027) and other categories after that. If your product isn't in one of those categories, adding a 2D code today is 2027-ready, not required — a way to get a useful, editable barcode now, ahead of a transition that's genuinely coming, on your own timeline.

Questions people actually ask
Do I actually need this right now?
Probably not urgently. Sunrise 2027 is a voluntary retail point-of-sale target, not a law requiring your packaging to change — see the honest breakdown in our Sunrise 2027 guide. Some brands adopt now because a 2D code is also useful today (it can open a product page on a phone); others wait. Either is reasonable.
What if I cancel?
Your codes keep resolving. Cancelled accounts get a 12-month read-only grace period on the shared domain before anything changes, and if you connect your own domain, that domain and its DNS stay yours — point it elsewhere and self-host if you outgrow us. We don't hold printed packaging hostage.
What if Codestamp shuts down?
GS1 Digital Link is domain-agnostic by design — that's the whole point of using your own domain instead of ours. If you're on a custom domain, you can move the DNS to any resolver, including GS1's own free one, without reprinting anything. If you're on our shared domain, that promise doesn't hold, which is exactly why we recommend a custom domain once you're printing at volume.
Is this GS1-certified?
There's no such thing — GS1 conformance is self-asserted industry-wide, not a certification anyone issues. What we do is show our work: every code comes with a decode round-trip and a conformance report against the published URI syntax rules, so you (or a retail buyer who asks) can see exactly what was checked.
